TA: Drashti PatelRental Furniture: Variations in production
The rental furniture market is gradually rising in India with companies like Furlanco, Pepperfry, Rentomojo etc. gaining popularity, due of the of easy transportation, flexibility of exchange and shifting, cost effectiveness etc.. During the semester students will focus on designing furniture for rental companies. Students will design a set or group of furniture pieces for the chosen context. The process of the studio will bring out elegant and decent furniture in various ways. After the completion of the studio students will be able to design and detail out furniture set and group for rental purpose, varying in their use. A brief introduction to estimate the cost of design of furniture and a hands on experience of making a prototype of a whole furniture piece or the junction of the furniture pieces will equip students with practical knowledge.
