Integrating Urban-Rural Growth, Shilaj: Peri-Urban Node

Shilaj has a strategic position in the context of Ahmedabad. While it has potential to act as the next epicentre of the rapidly expanding city, it is also centrally placed between two regional growth nodes of Sanand and Kalol attracting migrants from the rural hinterland as well as people from city core. A three-stage planning process translates the DP vision into a zonal concept to develop the area as a peri-urban node, enhancing development which is sustainable and inclusive to all. The implementation is done through rational and equitable land appropriation and reconstitution via the statutory mechanism of T.P. Schemes.
