Sabarmati is a locality in western part of Ahmedabad located along the banks of river Sabarmati. The locality used to be just a small settlement near a river bank and has now transformed into an urban settlement.  One square kilometer area of Sabarmati has been identified for detailed study with respect to chronological transformation, street networks, built form, land development,  municipal services, housing and transport. The analysis has been done by studying the transformation, street networks, built form and land use of Sabarmati using software such as Google Earth, ArcGIS as well as through in-person survey.
