Architectural conservation – Darbar Gadh Bela

This portfolio is a compilation of work done as part of Architectural conservation studio (CR4000). The studio is aimed to understand the different steps in preparing a conservation plan for a structure which can be broadly divided into– Documentation, Analysis, Interpretation and Value assessment, Condition assessment and Issue identification, Conservation approach, and Detailed design. The site chosen for the project is Darbar Gadh in Bela, which is a fort structure of approx. 300 years old. With its traditional materials and construction practices, the structure is an indication of its continued survival after the 2001 earthquake. The detailed process of this project has been collated in the form of a ‘Studio Process Booklet’.
