Architectural conservation [Potter's house, Bela, Kutch]

Potter's house is located on the outskirts of the settlement, on the banks of the Saran River. This house is part of the village's lone potter's family cluster, which includes two residences dedicated to the art of pottery. Bela stone, mud, timber, Mangalore tiles, and country tiles have been employed primarily in the construction of houses and working units. The house’s spatial organization responds to the art of pottery, creating a sense of harmony and, as a result defining the family’s lifestyle. The structural deterioration visible is a result of the family’s low financial situation. The detailed process of this project has been collated in the form of ‘Studio Process Booklet’.
