TESCA- A Material Innovation Centre

TESCA is a material innovation centre located in Ahmedabad. It deals with various paradigms related to materials and materiality. It is analogous to a construction site, the way both of them function as well as how individual aspects correlate. Technology is the major driving force at Tesca as innovation and technology go hand in hand.

The site has been introduced and analysed. Following that a concept statement explaining the MIC(material innovation centre) was written, which led to first impression diagrams being made.

DNA of space deals with cubic iterations related to voids, addition and subtraction. These then helped with the design of the abstract 3D models made in the workshop.

Sequential diagrams take you through the entire process of how an empty shell was turned into a chaotic yet orderly material innovation centre.

Furniture plan and reflected ceiling plan show all the details of the circulation, zoning, furniture as well as the ceiling.

The sections help in visualising the space much better as they show the minutest of details.

The sectional perspective helps in visualising the scale and depth of the space, how various heights and volumes are found at Tesca.

The exploded isometric view shows the details of each layer.

Renders show the material palette used in each space, analogous to a construction site, and with wood, steel and concrete being the highlights.
