Identifyng Available Funding Opportunities for Indian Cities to implement Sustainable Urban Mobility & Urban Development Initiatives

Indian cities have to function efficiently and innovatively amidst the growing rate of urbanization being witnessed. In the times to come, cities will be under great pressure for efficient and effective service delivery which would further accentuate as being the grass root implementers of the national agenda like meeting the COP26 milestones. To work differently they would need to have all different resources at disposal, especially funding. Funding constraints at one hand puts our cities at the backfoot of development and management, but at the other hand funds at the central or state level go unutilized/underutilized due to non-seekers or inept seekers. This research aims towards identifying various funding resources & schemes that are available at the national and state level for cities to implement sustainable urban mobility and urban development initiatives, and further understand if the city government officials are aware or face challenges in receiving these funds & schemes. Such a study would open avenues for cross sectoral resource utilization for a common agenda of city development and make cities more resource efficient.
