Mehsana - Municipal City Bus Service

Mehsana is the district headquarters of the Mahesana district in Gujarat. It is a Class A municipality as the population is more than 1,00,000 as per the 2011 Census. City Bus Service was recently implemented under the Chief Minister Urban Bus scheme. The existing state is analyzed through policy reviews, benchmarking, fiscal health assessment, HR, Performance-based monitoring, technical routing, and scheduling. Further, areas of improvement and case studies were identified to reach strategical and tactical proposals. To improve the municipality's own revenue and enhance its capacity, ensuring user satisfaction and mitigating financial risks.

Further, the areas of improvement, tactical and strategic solutions were arrived at with the phasing of the proposals

Proposal 1 - Capacity building training programme for the Nagarpalika officers

Proposal 1- Establishing a transport cell and defining the roles and responsibilities of the organogram.

Proposal 2 - The main goal is to nudge people to shift from private vehicles to using public transport. This can be done by deploying more buses and reducing the waiting time.

Proposal 3 - Studying the current financial data of the operating agency and Nagarpalika with and without the VGF. The proposals are oriented towards minimizing maintenance costs and generating more revenue.
