India has been facing housing inadequacy, especially in the lower-income population, compounded by rise in cost of the building construction sector. The materials are expensive and not eco-friendly, thereby, contributing to a significant amount of pollution. The vulnerable section in the LIG that are highly affected and neglected is the women population. This report shall focus on these gender-inclusive measures and critically analyze the effectiveness and the way forward along with recognizing key issues and challenges via case studies and finally provide recommendations for the city of Kolkata, West Bengal.
