Public health provisioning in urban centers is crucial for a safe and healthy city. The discourse on public health and urban planning have now become significant during the current world health crisis i.e. COVID-19 pandemic. It is by and large an urban pandemic. The better urbanized societies of developed world and urban centers in India have become hot spot of this COVID-19 disease. Most of the better urbanized states of India suffered a lot from this pandemic. Kerala is one such state where the initial episodes of this disease were under control, however, the second wave mid-this year onward have challenged the exiting public health infrastructure and services. The previous learning experiences of handling similar SARs virus did not prove anything this time. Hence, there is a need to have a fresh look at the existing public health infrastructure and levels of health services in the state of Kerala.
