Analytical studies on urban spatial structure and the built form

Cities spatially evolve over the years. Some cites are more compact while others have a more dispersed structure. It will be use full to assess the trends of evolution of the spatial structure of cities as this would be a useful input in the development/master plan making.
At a micro-scale, population density, job density, floorspace density, road density, node-link ratio access catchment maps, Nolli’s map, etc are important built-form variables that needs to be quantified. Knowledge of such variables helps us understand the built-form quantitatively and strengthens our inputs in development plan making (eg, infill and urban renewal projects, TOD demarcation, FSI determination) and in LAPs and TPS.
