Urban Resilience in Indian Cities: Review of the perception, aspirations, and the actions.

On the surface, urban resilience is a simple term: the concept of shocks and rebounding mechanisms amidst global threats. Despite this simplicity, there is no general agreement on how the concept should be translated into reality or practice. While the concept is increasingly being used to guide urban planning, its implementation is not immediately clear (Michael, 2018).
Critics also suggest that the current concept of urban resilience, though a commendable development pathway, is vulnerable to the same criticism of vague romanticism made against the sustainable development concept.
It is in this context; this research is designed to understand the emerging perception and aspirations about urban resilience. The research will also examine the actions of the cities in the context of urban resilience.
