Draft recommendations for Project Affected People

Infrastructure projects are a necessity when a city has to go forward in its march for development, which brings change in the economic and social fabric leading to certain adjustments within a society’s framework. Any development within a city is not an easy task, it has a lot of issues and conflicts. The transformation of cities from one stage to another has been different for different cities due to their individual characteristics.

The city of Ahmedabad is going through a Phase-1 development for MRTS project. Two corridors have been proposed for the MRTS to function well, and is being executed as East-West corridor and North-South Corridor which are Thaltej to Vastral gam and APMC to Motera Stadium respectively as shown in map. The East-west corridor being 19.43Km and North-south being 18.49Km long. The total length of the route is 37.92Km which includes 31.39Km elevated and 6.33Km underground, along with 32 stations along the route.
The allotted site Thaltej, has two elevated metro stations on the Thaltej-Shilaj road. As aforementioned, any development project brings critical issues with it, Thaltej is going through MRTS development and the location of the two metro stations is going to affect the people living in gamtal. Every infrastructure project which brings new development require land and the metro project being elevated at maximum locations also require land, which eventually has to happen through land acquisition at many places. One such identified place is Thaltej ward which is also going to have an impact on people where land is to be acquired for public use for the development of the project.
