Sustainable Twin Cities : An Industrial Hub of Gujarat

Bharuch and Ankleshwar are the twin cities with Narmada passing through between them. It is one of the oldest cities of India and one of the biggest industrial hubs. It is also Asia’a largest chemical zone. More than 2000 industries are registered here which is why it is known as the Chemical Capital of India. Arab traders came into Gujarat through Bharuch to do business. Bharuch’s importance was eventually recognized by the British and the Dutch (Valandas), who built business facilities here. Both the cities developed from the core city towards the GIDC estates. It is also culturally rich with several religious structures in the old city areas.
