the pot shala

The Prajapati community living in Ambli gaam have originally been potters. With the change in lifestyle, their professions have changed drastically. As a result, the pottery skill has not been passed to the next generation and is lost in day to day life. My project aims at providing a better space for existing potters to work and to teach the new eager generation with the skills and art. There is an economy aspect of this center as well which can help elevate the economy of the village as a whole. The Prajapatis have previously done pottery as a communal activity conducted in their chowk, thereby my intervention tries to introduce a public corner. The ground floor opens up to the street and extends to an open workshop space, drying space, multi-purpose room and a semi open and open space.
