Riverfront Recreational Center

The studio began with a cantilever exercise to help us comprehend structural and architectural expressions. I then conducted case studies on Structure with Cantilevered expressions. Tensile Fabric was the material I was given.I took up Munich Olympic Stadium (1972), which Günther behnisch and Frei otto constructed, & The Centre Pompidou-Metz by Shigeru Ban. Following the two case studies, I continued with the Munich Olympic Stadium and created ideas for a structure with a cantilever. After settling on one option, I experimented with various forms on the given site. First, I created a form with four repeats, with the connecting front cable secured on the cantilevered building's wall. Following a discussion, I decided to put only one form comprising four forms of the Olympic stadium and reposition it in accordance with the context and surroundings of the location. “The Riverfront Recreational Center”, a four-form Munich stadium overlooking the Sabarmati Riverfront for use as a gathering place, was finalized. Model exploration was carried out throughout the studio to understand the structural characteristics and the form.
