Comfortable & Efficient Dwelling

In the Engineering Sustainability Studio course, we were introduced to basic technologies and analytical techniques for designing data-driven energy efficient buildings. The primary focus of this course will be studying the thermal and luminous behavior of buildings, to examine the basic scientific principles affecting these phenomena, and use computer-aided design software and climate data to explore the role light, ventilation and energy can play in shaping architecture. Exposing the student to concepts of passive architecture. With the objective to Understand/design a resource-efficient, sustainable and high-performance building, the course also focused on Indian Standards and Codes for Sustainable Development and analyzed a project, with help of basic design software with which we attempted to evaluate the building performance near to actual. The course also intends to make the student aware of ECBC, IGBC, LEED, GRIHA, etc. various rating programs for sustainable building.
