In this project, we studied our own dwellings, its neighborhood, and their climate and made drawings, IES VE model, and performed simulations to extract its daylighting, temperature, ventilation, and electricity consumption data till mid-sem.  After mid-sem, we isolated our building and studied its characteristics in the hot and dry climate of Ahmedabad as our base case. We then performed different interventions to improve the building's performance in terms of daylighting, ventilation, temperature, and power consumption by adding or down-sizing the size and number of windows which also helped in better ventilation, and by adding insulations to improve temperature and power.

Life Cycle Analysis of an Electric Toothbrush

In this exercise, I studied the immediate neighborhood of the dwelling (up to 2 KM Dia) and made a 15 Min. Doughnut Chart for the City.

Radius of 500 m from the dwelling is observed and segregated according to different areas like roads, built-ups, trees, farm lands and barren lands. Climatic conditions were then studied according to it.

After Mid-sems, the exercise was to isolate the building and study it thoroughly in the hot and dry climate of Ahmedabad and perform the interventions accordingly. These are the plans in which the red characters depicts the number of occupants in a room and the darker the shade, the more the hour of occupancy in a room.

Interventions performed by adding insulation in walls and roof, adding or downsizing the windows wherever required. Comparison of Day light analysis between base case and Proposed case is also shown.

Data Inputs and time profile for thermal analysis is shown and in the other half, thermal comfort and energy is shown for the selected rooms.

Conclusions regarding temperature, daylighting and electricity consumption are drawn post all the interventions.
