Foundation Design of Overheadtank In Sanand

The studio, Geotechnical Parameters: Influencing Foundation Systems introduces us the the engineering that deals with the complex material that is soil, and how it ultimately affects the design of a foundation system. The studio was aimed at providing an insight into the details of Geotechnical Engineering through a foundation design pedagogy. Several topics were studied in order to build a basic understanding of the subject. It was followed by a site visit to sanand where a borehole was dug and the samples were retrieved. The samples were tested in laboratory and by making use of the data, design of a over head Water Tank was done corresponding to different loads. Suitable foundation systems such as Isolated ,Raft and Pile were chosen for the structure. Soil improvement technique was also covered in the pedagogy.
