Assessment of Livability in Gandhinagar

Livability concerns the quality of life in any human living environment. This study assesses sector-wise livability in Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation using GIS and Principal Component Analysis. Livability is quantified using fourteen objective indicators which pertain to the dimensions of open space, education, health, connectivity, housing, environment, and employment. The sector-specific values for each indicator are input of Principal Component Analysis. A PCA-based approach generates objective weights for individual indicators to evaluate their contribution to livability at the sector level.
