Understanding Heat Island effect of Gandhinagar city

Urban Heat Island's (UHI) the phenomena wherein an urban or metropolitan area is significantly warmer than its surroundings, due to urban infrastructure and activity. Heat absorbed by building materials during the day is re-radiated back into atmosphere in the night, leading to warmer temperatures overall.

To that end, this study intends to understand UHI effect with case of Gandhinagar, through the lens of Land Surface Temperature (LST). Various factors that may contribute to heat island effect have been correlated with LST to obtain a better understanding of UHI.
