Shifting Foci

This project aims at deeper comprehension of the forest systems. My lens for the detailed investigation  being how I was seeing and constantly imagining the forest in the company of an ecologist. It was a struggle between understanding and grasping the information rendered by the ecologist and at the same time trying to experience the forest by indulging in it through activating all the senses. This lens  is more of an individualistic method of exploration that used visual method to create a series of imagination of forest informed by my own sensory immersion, Ecologist’s narration and other stories of the forest.
Thinking back about the narratives, I realized that the forest never made me uncomfortable, instead, always amused and excited me, balanced the open and the shade, fatigue and relaxation. Provided me with a place to ponder about life, space for the imagination to run wild and at the same time taught about the ideas of selflessness and coexistence. Contradicting to this, it was the selfish human interference in the forest which made me uncomfortable, sad, sorrowful, scared and made me question my own kind. This journey certainly deepened the love and respect for the jungles manifolds.
