Mega Transit projects as "Agents of Change"

The Mumbai Ahmedabad HSRC is one of the largest expected transit mega projects in India. It is a 500 km long corridor and is expected to greatly reduce the travel time from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. Eight out of twelve stations along this corridor lie within Gujarat State. Besides the HSR, 6 industrial investment regions have been identified along the same corridor as part of the DMIC. These proposals, when layered together, reveal a cluster of projects around the HSRC Stations at Vadodara, Bharuch and Surat. Consequently, the location of HSRC station at Bharuch has maximum significance here, since the municipalities can leverage this to improve their tertiary sector contributions. Thereby planning interventions are required around the HSRC station to facilitate the development.
