The basic objective of decentralization worldwide has been to empower urban local bodies both administratively as well as financially to improve service delivery. India also went the decentralization and devolution way through the 74th Constitutional Amendment Act (CAA) in 1992. But the impact of the same with reference to service delivery is a matter of research. To gain momentum in service delivery, monitoring and control leading to performance of cities various missions had been launched by the Government of India. The smart city mission had seen technological deployments to improve processes and systems for efficient service delivery. Each city is unique in itself in terms of the issues, cultural patterns, governance framework and financing methods. This diversity encourages documenting the different management aspects involved in managing a city in India and attribute success and inhibiting factors to the performance of Local Bodies in terms of citizen satisfaction.
