Role of civic society in provision and development of affordable housing projects
Provision of affordable housing, especially for the vulnerable is a challenge for governments and societies. Consecutive governments have responded by formulating special schemes which have changed from time to time depending on the political agenda. To meet the housing challenge, the state government in Gujarat has opened the affordable housing sector and encouraged the private business to participate in provision of affordable housing. In Ahmedabad too, private business (real estate developers) has stepped in to provide affordable housing. In some case this has been done with an active participation of civil society groups. The proposed research aims at studying the operational process for the delivery of the housing unit and the satisfaction of levels of residents there.
