Residence in Leh

The project brief was to design a residence for a couple, both writers and their two children in Leh, Jammu and Kashmir. Keeping in mind the harsh cold and dry climate of Leh, all spaces have access to direct sunlight through south-facing windows, use of thick stone walls and earth berming on the north facade a thermal lag, sunspaces with glass angled at 60*(perpendicular to incident sunlight) to allow all winter sun to come inside the space, and underfloor hot water radiant heating system to name a few.
