The Writers' Nook

Sitting snugly in the landscape of Leh, is the ‘Writers’ Nook’- a home designed for a family of writers. The building is not merely a residence, but is a home offering warmth and comfort, created keeping the harsh cold climate of Leh in mind. Being partially tucked into the earth, the building functions as a holistic system. At it’s heart lies a central garden, which not only creates a calm environment, but also acts as a natural humidifier and a heat collector. The building also embraces sustainability with solar collectors, capturing the intense sunlight during the day and radiating the warmth during the cold nights. Beyond functionality, every room of the building provides panoramic views of the mountains towards the south. This southern exposure also brings in maximum sunlight into the house throughout the day. Click here to view portfolio booklet.
