Maidan-e-Metro: Integrating Vastness

The Metro Station at Chawk Bazaar becomes an opportunity to reinterpret the historical identity of ‘Kila Maidan’, which will emerge as a vast place of diverse activities and therefore identities, integrating with the existing urban fabric and the city.
The project emphasizes on the diverse scales of activities that unfold within the vast expanse of the maidan, and the need for tailored spaces to accommodate them. This vast area not only serves as a focal point for various events but also shares its periphery with significant landmarks of Chawk Bazar. Furthermore, the maidan establishes a connection with the river’s edge, where the bustling Ravivari market sprawls until it converges with the metro station. In essence, the maidan serves as a dynamic hub, harmoniously merging into a unified space with the metro station.
