The surge in urbanization have presented significant challenges to the lakes in Ahmedabad. Once interconnected and working as an integrated system, particularly the smaller and medium-sized are threatened. In addition, the urban sponges that are essential for water percolation, are constantly getting built upon. Therefore, large scaled lakes stand a better chance of revival, comes at the cost of borrowed water whereas small /medium sized lakes and sponges are most threatened in the face of development. The project Resurgence questions the redevelopment strategies of these urban lakes and sponges to address larger problems like groundwater depletion and climate fluctuations. Hence the project addresses a set of urban sponges with varying wetness along with Ghodasar Lake, a medium sized developed lake along the Kaharicut canal is currently functioning with only intermittent supply of STP water from the nearby plant to showcase a prototype of how this could be resurged.
