With only 43% of the sewage getting treated across India, the presence of untreated industrial effluents further pollutes both the open water and groundwater. To mitigate such pollution, various CSR activities are taken up by these industries within the urban areas. Although executed with good intentions, many such projects go unnoticed by the public. This lack of awareness and the nature of these quasi-public projects often turn them into neglected sites. The project Water Wise is to bridge the gap between industries and people, making them aware of a nature-based restorative method of on-site pollution removal through a series of constructed wetlands. In return, an educational public space gets created that showcases the responsibility of industries.
