"The building façade forms a critical part of a building’s performance related assembly. It is not only responsible for providing a physical enclosure to the occupied spaces but maintain optimum comfort conditions for its users. The function of the façade is to provide a structurally robust barrier between the dynamic exterior environment while acting as a thermal barrier allowing daylight into the interiors and mitigating heat gain. In addition to the performance aspects of the façade, it becomes a critical component of the embodied carbon of the building through its materials and fabrication processes and also governs the operational carbon consumption of the building throughout its design life.
The studio proposes to use a building (hypothetical but close to real built world case) as a design case with multiple façade design conditions that use different façade solutions to be developed under domain expert guidance and industry."
