To design a residence for a joint family including eight people.
• The site is located in the pols of the old city of Ahmedabad.
• The site is a cluster of three adjoining pol houses in a completely dilapidated state with only the facade intact.
• During the process of demolition some elements such as wooden columns, beams, joists, staircase etc. have been salvaged in order to be reused.
• The task will be to design a residence for this family, while retaining the facade.
• The students will have to design and plan the interior spaces and incorporate the salvaged elements in the new design.
Family profile:
• Grandmother (64 yrs old)
• Elder Son (38 yrs old, working professional)
• Wife (36 yrs old, house wife)
• Children - Daughter 12 yrs old and Son 8 yrs old -
• Younger son and his wife (27 and 26 years old respectively, working professionals)
• Children - Daughter 3 yrs old
• Stay at home maid
