In India, while new urban biodiversity projects are increasingly gaining recognition,
we know comparatively little about the longer history of nature and natural
infrastructure in cities. Bangalore is a notable exception, and the published histories
of the development and use of the Bangalore’s lakes can be shown to have helped to
support sensitive social and ecological proposals for their restoration and protection.
