The Twilight Synergy- Elderly and Social Space

The site consists of two existing social interaction spaces - A temple and the shops/eateries on the main road (Relief road). The issue arises when accessibility to these spaces are analysed with respect to the elderly. The focussed parameters to indicate accessibility were - walkability, security and usability. The design focuses on creating accessible social interaction spaces after sunset. Strategies to improve visual connectivity, night infrastructure, ground conditions and existing social spaces were used. Activating the edges, inclusive street furniture for elderly, well lit paths were among the objectives.
