Reviving Heritage in Ratan Pol’s Neighbourhood

Ahmedabad, a city steeped in history and culture, was one of the first in India to be designated as a heritage city. However, the city's tangible heritage, encompassing the lives of its residents and the vibrant public spaces that serve as communal living rooms, is rapidly deteriorating due to neglect and stringent regulations that hinder redevelopment and conservation efforts. Though the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation introduced the Heritage TDR scheme to incentivize conservation efforts, its effectiveness is hampered by inadequate implementation. This project delves into the potential of Heritage TDR to revitalize Ahmedabad's heritage and explores strategies for its successful implementation.
