Vastral, located in eastern Ahmedabad, underwent significant development owing to its proximity to an industrial zone. Originally an agricultural land inhabited by the Thakur community, it transitioned with industrial growth, attracting the Rabari community and migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for job opportunities. These communities erected landmarks like the Ramji and Swaminarayan temples. The introduction of the TP Scheme in the 2000s led to the emergence of high-rise apartments, transforming the area into a mix of residential and institutional buildings. Despite good connectivity through major and local roads, the absence of footpaths reduces its walkability. The area experiences high footfall during morning commutes and evenings, bustling with devotees attending temple ceremonies and street vendors. However, the noon sees a lull in activity. Despite being well-connected, the lack of pedestrian infrastructure affects its walkability.
