PASSIVE COMFORT LAB I MONSOON SEMESTER 2023

The Passive Comfort Lab provides insight into the concepts concerning energy optimization of the building envelope. The studio dives into the theoretical understanding of basic principles of building physics, and how factors such as climatic conditions, orientation, and envelope characteristics influence the thermal loads which in turn impact the energy efficiency of the building. Practical understanding and implementation of the heat transfer principles were accomplished with the help of the course project. The energy interactions in terms of building level were introduced in the Building Simulation module and it analyzed the influence of material characteristics of the envelope on the thermal loads of the building with the help of Design Builder software.
