The primary focus of the studio revolved around understanding the complex dynamics of traffic conditions in urban settings, particularly at and near intersections. These locations are critical due to the simultaneous occurrence of various conflicting movements involving multiple vehicles and pedestrians. The studio concentrated on analyzing the tangible elements of intersections, exploring factors such as speed assessment and pavement irregularities. The overarching goal was to thoroughly examine and develop a design scheme for an urban intersection, with a specific emphasis on Ahmedabad. Swaminarayan Crossroads was selected as the project site. The studio dedicated its efforts to gaining a profound understanding of the engineering aspects of the intersection. Consequently, a set of recommendations, particularly regarding geometric alterations, were formulated and proposed to improve the functionality and efficiency of the intersection.
