Beaches, apart from attracting tourists also plays an important role in the ecosystem. Palolem village, located in southern most taluka, Canacona of South Goa district, is one such village which came into focus in last few years for its clean and unhindered beach. The resources of beach and coastal commons were used by the community of Ramponkar. These resources were used by the community for their economic purposes maintaining a balance between the human needs and nature. Recently these resources were overused to exhaustion for urbanization. The intent is to bring back the traditional practice and revive the coastal ecosystem.
