The White Box I Rudolf Olgiati

The proposed project is of a visitor’s center in Chittorgarh. It is located right at the entry to the Chittor Fort and is the first impression of people to the fort complex. The visitor’s center is looked upon as a living room which gathers the people inside its boundary walls, separates the outside from the inside making a whole new realm inside. The center is then strategically punctured and openings are carved out to expose the interiors to the surroundings. Once the visitors are inside the building, they flow from one space to the other, connected via multiple staircases. They move within the non defined spaces which have the potential of spilling into each other. The entire building sits beside a sloping road and is oriented towards views.
