STATERA ACADEMY

The first exercise provides the opportunity to explore and understand STEEL as a material. The project of designing a foot-over bridge gave the opportunity to discover various systems and joineries that steel offers in spanning large distances with minimum supports and member sizes. It gave the knowledge of how steel as a material behaves, its strength, load-bearing capacity and spanning abilities. Taking forward the knowledge to a larger scale, the main project focuses on designing a sports academy and training center, for students and young and old talent to train and excel in their individual and team sports. The center is bifurcated into two parts, the Academic Center and the Training Center. The Academic Center has all academic facilities such as classrooms, libraries and reading rooms, where students learn and gain theoretical knowledge about individual and team sports. The Training Center provides courts and adequate spaces and volumes that each individual sports require, with enough natural light entering these spaces. Although the project has its specific requirements, it mainly focuses on the material STEEL, and based on that a Cantilever form was explored, where steel as a material was used and tested to its extreme.
