Gallery/ Studios

A manually operated drill was chosen and a few qualities from it were identified. The identified qualities were then imparted onto a cube to realize various possibilities of said qualities. These concepts were then taken to a larger scale and implemented onto a designated site.
The program consists of a system that provides rentable spaces for artists (painting, sculpting). Exhibitions may also be held for them to display work.

Axiality, imbalance, texture, interdependency were aspects observed.

Aspects of texture and interdependency were imparted. Teeth were used to articulate surface and also form the joinery.

Axiality, imbalance, texture, interdependency: Spine re-interpreted as a gallery. Foriegn objects attaching themselves to said spine are the studios, with a central core accommodating gathering.

Spine’s poc to the ground differs, as seen in the object. Plinths follow language of angled, chamfered edges from building.

Chunk 1: start of the journey through the spine. one starts of by entering the gallery, which has been segmented via planes.

Spine and Studios: windows within the spine give glimpses into artists’ studios, which gives an idea of their work.

Chunk 2 : The teeth from the object have been induced as fenestrations. The poc is an abstraction of working between two gears.

Chunk 3: core with the spine wrapping around. an abstraction of the gear and spine within the object.

Two distinct masses placed on top of each other, distinguished by materiality. Form derived from the cube.
