To REFORM a Prison - A PRISON to Reform

Deconstructing the existing system of “Panopticon” at the Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the project aims at proposing a prison that creates spaces that would aid and enhance the execution of a better prison system and in turn pave the way to encouraging “reformation” instead of “punishment”. The general barrack system that houses the majority of inmates should ideally promote a system that can almost be considered ‘co-living’. Solitary confinement houses the least number and the most severely punished inmates in the prison system.
