NFTs received a lot of attention last year in 2021 when one NFT produced by Beeple called “Everdays-The first 5000 days” sold for $69 million. NFTs have grown in popularity since then, particularly in digital art. The constant sharing of information and expression of views and ideas on various topics via social media platforms, such as memes, viral videos, and other forms of digital ephemera that are part of internet culture, can be attributed to the rise of NFTs. This paper will specifically investigate how NFTs have altered the way artists create, distribute, and sell their works, and how internet culture has influenced the aesthetic and thematic tendencies of digital art. The focus will remain primarily on the visual realm, specifically the shift in aesthetics and visual culture of work since the introduction of NFTs. To achieve these aims, this research will engage with a range of key stakeholders, including artists, designers, curators, and collectors. The findings of this research will be used to develop a deeper understanding of the impact of NFTs on digital art and design and to provide insights into the broader cultural and economic implications of this technology.
