KALEEN: an Indian, contemporary bench

KALEEN, meaning a carpet in Arabic, is a wooden three person seating element. Its form is inspired from traditional Indian furniture. It is made of steam beech wood and is coffee stained with lacquer coating. The seat is made of thin strips which come under tension and expand, supported on a sleek frame supported by four steam bent legs. The legs split and hold the frame, not at the corners, but at the edges.Open link for pictures of the prototype.
