The project focused on resource optimization for municipal solid waste processing, with the aim of identifying the resources used in waste processing, reviewing current practices, highlighting challenges in the existing scenario, and recommending solutions to resource optimization and monitoring framework. The resource optimization model was designed to construct a statistical model of the resources used that can be solved using an optimization algorithm, to help ULBs decide on the number of resources required based on the quantity of waste generated and waste characterization. The purpose of the optimization was to treat all the waste coming to the site in the most efficient way possible along with achieving the highest recovery rate possible. Overall, the project aimed to provide a comprehensive solution for ULBs to effectively manage and process municipal solid waste.
