Action Plan for climate resilient wastewater management for peri-urban area of Rajkot: Technology options and implementation strategy

Under Swachh Bharat Mission, access to toilet facilities have increased manifold, especially in rural and settlements areas, and prompted the question of how to manage faecal waste beyond the toilet as next stage of value chain. In response, the government recently announced a second phase of the programme which will focus on liquid waste management in rural areas and settlements. It provides tremendous opportunity for. Convergence of rural-urban strategies to achieve effective, economical and sustainable wastewater management. Rajkot district is currently attempting to pilot the rural-urban convergence models for wastewater management however lack the capacity, decision making tools and optimization of technology is resulting into a roadblock, which this research will try to address.
