 This report reflects the exercise of the fourth semester student of Directed Research Project under the program Masters in Urban Infrastructure. Mahila Housing Trust (MHT) is the knowledge partners for the directed research project – “Feasibility and sustainability of sewage treatment plants in housing schemes for the low income societies/communities in Ahmedabad. The consumption of water resources has increased and availability is reduced, so the demand for water is increasing rapidly. This makes recycling and managing the water important for the cities. Ahmedabad being the case of city for the directed research project which is at a high risk of water stress, and it is also heavily reliant on ground water. Mahila Housing trust (MHT) is making an effort to ensure efficient working of sewage treatment plants in the Ahmedabad's low income housing societies/communities. So, with an outcome to identify the strategies for community, technology providers and government to ensure effective working of sewage treatment plant at society/community level to fulfil the objective of decentralize sewage treatment system so that the load on the centralized sewage treatment plant is reduced.
