The study investigates the demand and supply chain management of urban freight commodities and assesses the viability of EFVs in terms of functionality, operations, and finances. This study takes into consideration the freight operations of two local markets present within the city of Ahmedabad. Establishment surveys and face-to-face interviews with drivers were carried out to understand the market demand, existing freight operations and trip patterns to analyze operational and economic feasibility of EFVs in the local markets. This study also quantifies the environmental benefits of freight electrification and recommends appropriate city-specific recommendations to enhance EFV penetration into the market.
