Estimating true cost of different modes of transport in Indian cities

Concerns regarding global warming, peak oil, traffic congestion, tolls, and public transportation subsidies have sparked a growing international interest in the development of comprehensive assessments of the costs of urban transport. The current policy interventions are drawn solely from the direct cost of transport modes, and it is thought that city bus systems are subsidised. However, if we consider the total cost of all modes of transportation, e.g. Direct and indirect expenses, internal and external costs, the actual scenario can be visualized. In order to achieve this aim, the present study was undertaken to examine and develop a generic framework for calculating the true cost of transit modalities. This study proposal is separated into three pieces.
